Neil Armstrong Elementary

📚 Big Kids, Little Readers, Great Connections! 💛🖤

Students from Ms. Koepnick’s Education Careers class at Bettendorf High School visited Neil Armstrong Elementary today to read and connect with first graders!

What a wonderful opportunity for our high school students to gain hands-on experience while sharing their love of reading with younger Bulldogs!

Thank you, Neil Armstrong, for the warm welcome! 🐾

💚 October 10 is World Mental Health Day.

Mental health matters every day. By listening, checking in, showing kindness and making space for honest conversations, we can help build a community where everyone feels supported and valued.

Together, we can break the stigma and remind one another: You are not alone. 💚

The Bettendorf Educational Support Association takes pride in celebrating our members. As part of that effort, BESA shares staff shout-outs submitted by building and/or district administration. #BETTerTogether

Hoover Custodian Jeff Hammerlink. “Jeff is always willing to help out. His passion for the building is evident in all that he does. He works very hard to make sure everyone has what they need to be able to have a wonderful day at Hoover. When we were short a night custodian, Jeff was working extra hours to help keep us up and running. His efforts are greatly appreciated.”

Hoover Paraeducator Katie McDermott. “Katie has had to wear many hats already this year, especially when we are short staffed. She does it with a positive attitude and always puts students first. Thank you, Katie!”

Thank you to our district nurses and guest nurses for their assistance with coverage for BHS while we onboard our new nurse. We have a new health office secretary this year, and their support for her during the transition has been amazing.

💙 October is National Bullying Prevention Month

October is National Bullying Prevention Month, a time to reinforce the importance of kindness, respect and belonging in our schools.

At Bettendorf Community School District, we all play a role in creating welcoming, supportive environments where every student feels safe, valued and included. Families can help by talking with students about treating others with respect, including those who may feel left out, and speaking up when they see bullying or unkind behavior.

Together, we can build a stronger school community by choosing kindness, looking out for one another and showing what it means to be BETTer Together.
